RANDWICK REMOVALS

Services / apartments and units

Apartment moves are the local speciality

Randwick runs at 71 percent units and Coogee at 75, so a removalist here is an apartment removalist or nothing much. The two buildings that dominate, interwar walk-ups and managed lift blocks, are different jobs, and we run each properly.

The walk-up move

Three or four storeys of stairs, a stairwell with a tight winder halfway, no lift and nowhere obvious to put a truck: that is a big slice of the housing between Randwick Junction and the beach. What makes it go well is preparation, not muscle. We ask for the floor number and the stairwell shape in the enquiry, bring shoulder straps and a stair trolley sized to the winders, take doors off their hinges when the sofa asks for it, and pad the common-area walls because your neighbours and your building manager remember the movers who did not.

Honesty about stairs: they add time, and time is the bill. A third-floor walk-up typically runs longer than the same flat with a lift, and we would rather say that here than pretend otherwise and pad the invoice. The run sheet asks about your dwelling for exactly this reason.

The lift-building move

The towers and mid-rises along Anzac Parade and around the Junction mostly sit under strata management, and strata has rules: book the lift, pad the lift, sometimes a bond for the common areas, sometimes a move-in window. None of it is hard, all of it has a notice period. Tell us the building and we tell you exactly what to ask your building manager and when, so move day starts with a padded lift on hold instead of a queue of annoyed residents.

Parking, permits and the racecourse

Much of Randwick and Coogee is resident-permit parking, and the streets nearest the beach fill early all year. A truck needs planned space, not luck, so we work out where it can legally stand before the day. One purely local wrinkle: race days at Royal Randwick bring special-event clearways around Alison Road and Anzac Parade, and a move booked blind onto one can lose its parking plan an hour before the crew arrives. We check the race calendar when we schedule; most locals would not think to.

What it costs

Most one and two bedroom flats fit the two-mover crew at $250 an hour. Bigger apartments, or two-bedders with serious stairs and full rooms, sit better with three movers at $350. The enquiry answer names the tier honestly, with a realistic hours range for your access story.
